Today WASHINGTON —President Biden will visit Minnesota to tout new infrastructure law

The White House announced that President Joe Biden will appear at Rosemount on Tuesday.

President Joe Biden will visit Minnesota on Tuesday to advocate for a bipartisan infrastructure law worth around $1 trillion, which is expected to bring billions to the state. The White House announced on Friday that Biden will be taking a trip to Rosemount. Biden has already stopped in other parts of the United States to defend the infrastructure law as Democrats try to maintain control of Congress in next year's midterm elections. The visit is a difficult time in the first year of the Democratic presidency, as the economy and the coronavirus pandemic remain major issues. The White House predicted earlier this year that Minnesota's infrastructure package will deliver $4.5 billion to roads, more than $800 million for public transportation, and about $300 million for bridges within five years. Minnesota will also receive $680 million for water projects, at least $100 million for broadband, and about $297 million for airport infrastructure.

Officials and local leaders are already pointing out areas and projects across the state that could benefit from funding included in the legislation. Five of Minnesota's six Democratic congressmen voted in favor of the package. None of the four Republicans in the Minnesota House of Representatives voted to pass the Biden Bill earlier this month, winning Minnesota by about 7 percentage points in the 2020 presidential election. However, a September poll sponsored by Star Tribune, MPR News, KARE 11, and FRONTLINE found that voters in the state were divided over Biden's job performance. The sample error rate for the survey was about 3.5 percentage points. The results showed that 51% disapproved of Biden's work as president, while 47% agreed and 2% were unsure.
